I started receiving phone calls from various local companies saying they received an email asking them to confirm the attached purchase order. I explained the companies that they must have the wrong phone number because I didn't not send out such an email. After several calls of a similar nature, I asked one company to forward to me a copy of the email they received. The email had a brief message and the signature included a man's name but the contact information included my phone number. I performed a Google search to see if the company and employee who sent the email existed. I found a company website but the contact information did not match what was in the email signature. I am now receiving phone calls on only from my city but also from the US. I contacted the real company to warn them about the possible problem so that they could take the necessary steps.
