I was contacted by phone and was told they will promote and market my book to a traditional publishing company. They prepared a query letter to send to the publishers. They initially requested $1700 to start stage 1 of the process and this will take the copyright from me as the company would purchase the copyright for a certain amount. I paid $1000 initially. Later, they were contacting me again for additional $$5500 for the next marketing steps. This was when I realized that it was a scam. Thankfully, my bank refused to pay them the next requested payments realizing that I may be a victim of phishing or scam. I emailed them today to let them know to stop the emails and phone calls and any further communication should be through snail mail. I also requested a refund of $1000 which I initially paid them. This fishy business should be reported to the FBI.
