I applied for a receptionist position at the Vascular Medicine Center on indeed.com. I was sent an email through indeed that stated that I had not been selected for the position but "they were impressed by my resume" and suggested that I send my resume to [email protected] to receive details. I did so and "Courtney" told me she was looking for a personal assistant and would be in Toronto for the next 2 weeks and wouldn't be able to meet for an interview. She asked questions related to employment and then sent an email stating that she had "accepted me to work" for her and that she had sent me a check of the amount of 2,495.00 and that I should deposit it and let her know when the funds were available to me. I suspected a scam and https://www.indeed.com/forum/gen/Job-Interviews/Personal-Assistant-might-job-sca...⇄ confirmed my suspicions. The tracking number for the check was provided to me as 9211790186813812146899. Productive Edge was the return address on the check sent to me.
