I was contacted by a former classmate via IG DM telling me about a person that helped him make a 10k profit off of $500 trading Bitcoin. After being skeptical, I contacted the classmate whe attempted to ensure me the person was to be trusted. I contacted the fraud. She directed me to a website via IG in my DM. I set up the account, and followed her instruction of sending $300 of bitcoin via cashapp to the wallet code that she provided me which was supposed to be MY wallet code generated through the website that she had me set up an account for. Once I sent the bitcoin to the code, I tried to access the site again, but it did not recognize my password. I pressed reset password for them to send me a reset password email. I never received an email. The person told me I needed to pay $200 to fill out an account recovery form in order to get back into the account. Otherwise, I would not be able to access the funds. Of course I did not send additional funds and my $300 is gone.
