I was sent a text message asking if I was interested in applying for a data entry position as my resume had been viewed online. I was then asked to install the telegram app so that I could have an IM interview. I was texted several questions from a Brad Williams who claimed to be the hiring manager at Priothera Ltd. I answered the questions honestly. I was then informed I was chosen for the position. I was told I would receive an email with onboarding paperwork to complete. The paperwork was very realistic. I filled out a W4 form as well as signed an offer letter, signed the Code of Conduct, and filled out a direct deposit form. The email came from a Lionel Carnot that had what appeared to be a Priothera Ltd email address. I submitted the forms. I was then told that I would be receiving a cashiers check so that I could purchase office equipment since this was a work from home position. This is when I thought something was off. I received a cashiers check in the amount of $4,950 but the check was from California Southern SBDC which is in San Diego, CA. My name was misspelled so I messaged Mr. Brad Williams and so he replied that a new check would be sent to me. The check was delivered by UPS from a Jason Mitchell with the address R/A Hoerr, INC RHP 804 W Primrose Lane Edwards, IL 61528-9306. I did reach out to California Southern SBDC since it seemed odd that a cashier's check would be coming from them. I googled the name and it was legit so I called them as their number was online. The woman I spoke to informed me they never issue cashier's checks, especially to an individuals. The following day I received the corrected cashier's check and this one was from A&A Landscape, LLC in Farmersville, TX. It had been sent via UPS and from the same Jason Mitchell, same address as from the day before. I ended up closing my bank account however, I had also been requested to send a copy of my driver's license w/ the onboarding paperwork so all my personal information was compromised. While I didn't lose any money I do worry because they have my driver's license number as well as my SSN since I filled out a W4 tax form.

I was initially contacted by text message. I was asked to download the Telegram app to conduct my interview by message. I was asked some interview questions via text. At the end of the process, I was asked to provide my name, address and name of my financial institution.

Received a text message from someone claiming to be a recruiter for Priothera. I researched the company, which seemed legitimate, so I texted back. Then I was prompted to download Telegram to do an “interview,” where I answered a few questions. After all the questions were answered I was told to wait 10-15 minutes and I would hear back. They immediately told me I got the job, gave me the job description, the whole 9 yards- it was quite impressive. They asked for my email address to send the job offer, w-4, and code of conduct, and was prompted to contact them again at 8 am. I was feeling skeptical to begin with due to the fact that the “interview” was on an instant messaging mobile app. Had a few people look into it before I sent anything back to them. Their set up is a a **** good set up because there was 4 other people who I asked that said that it looked legit, but just as I did, they were skeptical about the telegram. I decided to look on here before I sent the paperwork back, and I am glad that I did. They offered 18.00 for two weeks orientation and then $30.75/hr after orientation, and said a check would be sent out to pay for my equipment. I do not know if the website they direct you to is actually legit and they are just scammers pretending to be recruiters and HR, or not. But all I have to say is that they have a **** good set up, and it looks very, very real. I’m glad I went with my gut, or else they would have gotten another person. BE AWARE OF THEM EVERYTHING LOOKS LEGITIMATE.
