This company targeted members of the community looking for jobs through the online job recruitment site Indeed. In our case, the person pretended to represent a local business needing an executive assistant. My wife answered the email. The person who responded pretended to be the owner of the company and wrote an email asking that my wife start her job immediately, by first depositing a check on behalf of a client. The check would be sent to her via FedEx, and accompanied by a W2 and a check written for herself in the amount of $400, her promised weekly stipend. The check arrived today, in the amount of $2,850, all written out to my wife, from someone in Woodland Hills, CA. Please see photos below for reference.
