When asked how I wanted to pay (cashapp, PayPal, Zelle etc) I chose Zelle. Then I was asked if I wanted to pay $300 now and the rest when I received the puppy… I indicated that I would pay the full amount now. I sent $700 via a Zelle. Right before I sent it I was thinking - this is kind of a bad idea to send money to someone I don’t know, I haven’t seen the puppy in person and I don’t have any contract. But I sent the money anyhow.
The puppy was to be sent via airplane with a puppy nanny accompanying. I was sent by email and text message a document showing the shipping details and date.
The morning of the scheduled flight I was told that due to cold weather the puppy would need a special crate that would cost up to $1000 (for the most highly recommended crate).
As I had been wondering all along if this was a scam I decided not to send anymore money. It had been indicated that the cost of the crate would be refunded once the puppy was delivered but I did not want to risk losing more money. I did not respond to that email / text. And was never contacted again and of course the puppy was not delivered.
