I received an email from a guy who said he worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers and was the Human Resource Manager. He mentioned that I was shortlisted for the job I applied for and that I needed to answer some further questions and provide a few references. I replied back thanking him and responding to the questions. He then said I got the job and that I needed to fill out an i9 form. (DO NOT DO THIS). It had personal information on it such as, full name, address, birth date, and my social security number. I was so eager to get the job, that I did not stop and consider the major red flags. He had me text a job code to this number, which I did and then eventually I received another email stating I would be getting a check in the mail and that it would be delivered by that day. As he said, it was, and I noticed the check was signed by someone I had not heard of before. Following receiving the check, I got numerous texts asking if I had deposited the check yet and what was going on and why I had been silent to his messages.
