On November 21, my mom contacted me to inform me of the matter and ask how she should proceed. I was able to locate both the website and the Instagram page. I became suspicious of the website upon seeing the lack of contact information such as an address or phone number. The website also contained broken English and very vague information. The Instagram account only had three posts with the oldest being from August 28.
I requested that my mom send me all the documentation relating to the transaction. Upon receiving information from the Paypal transaction, I searched the associated email. While I was unable to locate any information relating to a retailer using the name Pretty Tonight, I was able to locate reports of other fraudulent retailers using the listed email address.
Since my mom does not remember if she entered debit card information or used her Paypal account, I advised her to contact the bank and report that the card has been compromised.
