The scammer started an email conversation with me posing as the president of the little league I coach for, saying he wants me to buy 5 $200 VISA gift cards as a surprise for the board members. I bought said cards and next thing I know, the real person sent out an email calling out the scam, and I saw that email after making my purchase in-store, realizing I have fallen victim to a gift card scam. The scammer was revealed to be one of many who "troll organizational sites and collect email addresses." I stopped contact with the scammer and did not reveal gift card or purchase information.
