Called saying I’d won prizes by signing up at a business. I’d won one of TV, Cruise or a car, “at no cost to me.” She said I would have to come to their offices and scratch off “a card” to see which prize I’d won. Most of the conversation was Very vague. The script was quite long though.

Then they wanted me to confirm three pieces of information. The first was “are you residing as a couple.” I couldn’t think of a way to not answer the question. I told them “no thank you” and they immediately hung up. No bye, trying to convince me or anything.

(I don’t know what they were trying to get out of me and I hope I didn’t give them something unintentionally.)

As a parent of a child who actually is a busy union actor I can tell you that the promises this company is making are completely false. They can’t get auditions for children. This in definitely not how the business works. You first need a talent agent in order to get auditions for tv and film. They’re asking for money when they get the parents to their meetings which they refer to as auditions. These meetings take place in hotels in and around the Vancouver and Vancouver Island area. When they’re done they leave with the money and are not seen again. The amount of money to my understanding is $5,000 and upwards. It’s not legal for a talent agent to charge anything more than 15% of what their talent is paid for their acting work. These people are asking for thousands up front without any guarantee of work.
