I received a phone call stating my power was going to get shut off. I do owe a past due amount to my energy bill, so I genuinely thought this was PG&E. They first asked for a payment of $200, they stated that payment did not go through. I sent another payment of the same amount. They then stated they would need another payment of $498. At this point I was looking at the transactions on my phone and I realized the past two payments of $200 indeed had gone through. I told the scammer I would deal directly with the electric company and if they could issue a refund. He stated he would issue a refund and that the funds would be deposited back into my account after 10 minutes. I then called my bank and I was told I could not reverse the payment because I authorized it. I then filed a complaint with The Fair Trading Commission. I followed by making a complaint to the Better Business Bureau.
