I’ve applied for several jobs through indeed over the course of a couple of weeks, once similar to the name used in the scan which made me think it was an actual job I had applied for. I received a text message stating I was selected for an interview, that it would be held strictly through messaging through the ring central app, I downloaded the app and was immediately connected to the person who would interview and brief me. The scammer used the name of Nichole Salyer as the Human Resources manager. She stated using the app may seem unprofessional, but they’re innovating as times are changing with technology. I was able to review the companies website, which was an actual website. She listed job descriptions which looked as if it were copied and pasted from indeed or some other place to quickly give insight. After several typical interview questions, I was “selected” for the job to begin next week and to start a one week training. I was asked to follow instructions the following day as a start up check would be sent to my preferred address (which I had given once I was “selected” for the job) the check was to be used to buy equipment necessary for the home address. She stated I would need to deposit the check then send her proof of deposit. I asked how would I protect me personal information by sending proof, she stated, “the personal info is not needed, the company would not ask for such information, do you understand?”

This all seemed skeptical to me. Once I kept reviewing the website, I found that the Nichole Salyer lady was not the head of Human Resources, but in fact a person over IT technology and the human resource managers name was Brenda Havens. I noticed in the email sent to me of my offer letter (which looked very legitimate, leading me to feel this was genuine) she signed as “Nichole Salyer Human Resource manager.” The companies address was listed and their logo, but no phone number. After reading other scam reposts, I’ve come to a conclusion this is a scam. I’m happy I never filled out the hire on packet which include a W4 and other personal information. I had only signed the offer letter.
