While preparing for a move, I tried to change my current address by googling, "USPS address change form." Because I was in such a hurry, I just clicked the first website that showed up, and because it appeared legitimate and similar to the actual USPS website, I entered my information in a hurry. This information included my name, phone number, previous address, new address, year of birth, and debit card information. After submitting this information (which I believed to be to the official USPS website), I received a text from the company informing me of a charge of $89 to my account. I called to have this service cancelled, as I did not knowingly authorize a charge of this amount, but was told that the best they could do was to reduce the charge to $1.95. I have cancelled the card which was used and filled out the correct change of address form on the real USPS website, but I am incredibly concerned that my personal information is now at risk.

I attempted to change my address and begin forwarding mail online. I searched "USPS Change of Address" and selected a legitimate-looking hit. It looked normal and I entered my information including my name, address, phone number, and debit card number. Then I noticed a charge for $89.60, which I thought was quite high. I also received a text message from "Kathy" with an order # new mailing address and forwarding date. It also included a phone number for questions. My bank could not dispute the charge since I willingly provided my card number. The bank closed my debit card and issued a new one.
