I was first contacted by text message regarding a job for possible health. They wanted to set up an interview right away through instant messaging on skype or google hangout. At first it seemed very legit they didn’t ask for much personal information. Just your name, email, location and phone number. You are then directed to a webpage for possible health which I am sure is probably a legit company that these scammers are using as there cover. They proceeded to give out the pay rate of $38.75 and hour with $16 while doing orientation and a list of jobs like data entry clerk, call center receptionist and payroll clerk. They also included a list of benefits and it seemed way to good to be true. They asked me typical interview questions about my last job, explain why I wanted the job etc.. after finishing all the questions listed they told me to hold for 15-30 mins as they were taking with the board of directors and would let me know if I was hired. (Keep in mind this is all through instant message which I used skype). They said I got hired and asked for basic information, address, phone number, name etc.. nothing again that was super personal that isn’t on your resume already. They sent me a welcome email and proceeded to tell me I would be working from home til the new Edmonton office was up and running. They said they would send me a laptop and internet router to work from and all the papers would be mailed to my address. They said they would give me a cheque to pay for all security programs I would need. This all seemed fine since they were not asking for my banking information or SIN number. This is when they told me they would be e-mailing me a cheque which I was to print out right away, I had to make sure to properly cut the paper and use the app on my phone to cash the cheque right away because I would get $50 bonus for completing this right away. I was to sign the back of the paper. I told them I didn’t have a printer so they told me I should go right away to a staples or library to complete. I they were very persistent and said things like ‘do you understand?’ ‘Are you capable of doing this?’ The were very pushy. I called my bank to ask about the validity of a printed cheque because I didn’t want to get in trouble for depositing a faulty cheque. I was told by my banks manager that this was a textbook job scam and the next thing they would do is ask me to send them money. Please do your reasearch and watch out! This is not a legit job.

This cyber criminal/phisher used the Possible Health company website, impersonated one of their recruiter/people managers, and utilized their actual employment documents in order to gain my trust and trick me into thinking I had a stay at home administrative assistant job interview and follow up offer. He played on my vulnerability and need to support my pregnant wife and child-to-be with seemingly great job benefits and flexible pay and hours. He used the employment documents to dig sensitive personal information out of me, and then he proceeded to convincingly claim to have needed me to purchase eBay gift cards as the way for their company to make the necessary arrangements and setup a so-called security link and place orders for software to install on a work laptop he would have supposedly sent to me for my work. Needless to say, he utilized the gift cards as a trace-free way of indulging himself at my expense. I didn’t get any job of course, and I lost a significant amount of money.
