I received an email from Microsoft about my upcoming 365 renewal. There was a link that said "Visit site" at the top of the email. The email address looked legit so I clicked it. I had to put in my email address and phone number for verification. Then the site said it was calling me to complete the verification process. I thought this was odd, but answered the call. It was an automated message asking me to press 1 to complete verification. When I pressed 1, the message said I had just approved a $156 charge to my account and if I did not accept the charge, wait on the line and someone would help me soon. A middle eastern sounding man came on the phone and I told him I did not approve any charge to my account. He told me he would deny the charges and to open Google Chrome. I did as he asked and he told me to type in the following address "ultraviewer.net" which is a downloadable program allowing someone to remotely access your computer. I told him I was not comfortable downloading that and he said "when you download it, I will give you your cancellation confirmation number." Again, I said there was no way I was downloading a program to let someone have access to my computer and he could just give me the code first. He then hung up on me. I have been checking my bank account and so far no money has been taken.

I had a virus on my computer and l was directed to call Microsoft. They said it would cost $100 to clear my computer. Had to get a gift card to do that. They kept telling me that someone in Dayton Ohio was trying to hack into my bank account and my other accounts l have. This cost me more money. Then they said that there was a problem with my internet box at my house and they needed more money. This morning they are asking for $2000. I already have sent them $2800. I feel that this is not right. What can you do for me?

Someone calls frequently to offer us a refund from Microsoft. They say we have to get on line to get the refund, which we refuse to do. They always have a strong foreign accent/broken English. Constant harassment. I called back from a different location and they still try to perpetrate the scam. I want this nonsense to stop! We have not lost any money yet, because we do not log in and fall for their scam.

The caller informed me that if I didn’t call the number, my subscription for anti virus protection would be auto renewed for $299. I called to verify this was false and asked the person I was speaking with to put me on their do not call list and they used very inappropriate and personal language to insult me.
