On Friday the 29th of May, I turned on my computer to look for Michaels, and a popup came up. My computer froze, and I coudld do nothing but call the number under the Microsoft logo. I connected with a man named James. I was told to get $100 in Target cards to start the process of cleaning up my computer. I did this. Then, was told that those cards did not work. I had to get new cards. Needless to say, after $2,500.00 worth of cards and two days later, I was done. I called the Better Business Bureau and blocked the caller. I had to take my computer in and get it all cleaned up for another $250.00.

We received a message from a company saying they were Microsoft. We called them back and they stated that they were going out of business and that we had a rebate coming. Company then provided a form to complete in order to receive the rebate. We completed the form, which included our credit card number and social security number. Later, our daughter came over and told us that this may be a scam. We have now cancelled our credit card and am calling the banks and social security administration. We also called the police and they suggested we close our accounts and have our computer checked. This morning, we received an identical call from the same number. We did not call them back today. We concerned about the company having our personal information.
