I received a text from Mrs. Jane Gilbert referring me to Alexander Matthew responding to my work from home job search. I had a very long "phone text" interview with Mr. Matthew who asked me 14 questions to pre-qualify me for employment. They asked how I wanted to be paid and said they'd send me a package containing my tax forms and all the employee benefit information. Once I passed the pre-screening, I was told I would be sent a free laptop and a check to cover the software programs I'd need to purchase. I was asked if I had the ability to deposit a check via my mobile phone, the maximum amount of the check I could deposit and the name of my bank. About 2 hours later I was emailed the front and back images of a check for $2450.00 drawn on SunTrust bank with what I later found out were fake account and routing numbers. I was instructed to email to them the proof of deposit confirmation number once it was deposited. Fortunately, I did this on a Saturday night and contacted my bank on Sunday to tell them I'd been scammed and to do whatever was necessary to be sure the check could not be negotiated. I was told they were aware of these types of scams, that due to the weekend the deposit was still "pending", to not draw any funds from the check and that the check would not be negotiated. I'd heard that work from home companies requesting money up front were scams but was unaware of those "giving you money" up front being scams. Fortunately, I had sense enough to not have given them any personal information such as my social security number or bank account or routing number. It's disgusting that it's so hard to find LEGITIMATE work from home websites.
