Police Arrest Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

I was contacted by phone by a no id caller. They stated they were the Hamilton County Sheriff’s dept. and he gave the name of Lieutenant Murray. Told me it was a recorded line and that I could not disconnect or add a 3rd party to the call. They said that I had signed for jury duty but not shown up and that I needed to come to the court house to prove my signature. That there were 2 warrants out for my arrest and That they would stay on the line with me until I arrived at the court house to pay the fines and that there was a gag order filed against me and that I could not tell anyone about this. They stayed on the phone with me and said I had to go to the closest location to purchase a court voucher which ended up being 2 Target gift cards in the amount of $499 each. I never gave my credit card info to anyone but they requested that I provide not all, but some of the digits from the back of the gift cards. Then another man got on the phone, he tried to get me to reread the gift card numbers and I was doubtful of the whole scenario by then and told them no, that I was headed to the court house to meet them and we’d sort it out from there. I asked what his name was and he said Officer Grey. He stayed on the line with me until I arrived at the court house, said he’d meet me inside and then hung up. I reported this to the police and disputed the charge that day. Case # ********* with the City of Redbank
