I received an email, offering a position as a mystery shopper. I answered the email, expressing interest. a week or so later i was contacted by a Dave Ewers, shopping survey coordinator, stating my application had been accepted. I was sent a packet, including a survey sheet to be completed after the shopping assignment, and a check, for $1700 . $1400 of that, was to be spent at a local store, wal mart, walgreens, were mentioned, but i could go to another if i wished. i was to spent that amount, on I-Tune gift cards, which were to be sent back to the company. the remaining $300 was my pay for the job. My instructions were to deposit the check, then contact by text a Collin Defour at(443)207-6296, and he would "walk me thru the process" I took the check to my bank, they encouraged me NOT to deposit that check ( if it was fake, it was a good one, it really looks and feels like a real check) the bank manager was sure it was a scam. I'm not so sure, because there is a company by that name, and they have not asked me for money. however, when i texted Mr. Defour, informing him that my bank could not verify the checks authenticity, he replied that the funds should be available one hour after deposit, and that i could begin my assignment then. He did not address the authenticity of the check. that was tuesday the 25th of september, 2018, and i've had no other message from him. I'm curious as to whether this is a real scam. i still have the check and the packet. the check was written on "Lake Michigan credit union" check number is 2760953. at the bottom it says "RE: Jennica Quinn" I appreciate your time and assistance, Would really like to know for sure that this a scam
