I had been searching for work during COVID-19. The job offer came by email from an HR representative that saw my email online. I assumed they found me by a job board. The job sounded great with a promise of a large salary after 2 months of training by email. There were a few documents to read and sign before training would start a couple of days later. No formal interview took place. A week into the training, my manager introduced himself by email and phone. He seemed nervous and rushed. The manager continued to promise a Project Supervisor job starting as contractor and turning into employee. No actual job process was shown until week 3. The process boldly suggested and urged to use my own credit card to purchase technical equipment to set up an office in Asia. This did not make sense. When I questioned the manager about using my credit card vs. using company funds, he continued to encourage using my credit card. After I didn't respond, no more emails came in.
