The scammer contacted me through a text for employment. Obtain my info from the SC Department of Unemployment, seeking to offer me a position with OPC Energy, which owns several energy plants in the US. They provided a complete hiring package for which it was done in a very professional manner. I never provided any bank account information, however they did get my social security number. (A lock down of my credit was done immediately) A meeting was scheduled every morning via email and text to test my abilities for the position, after a week of training they were ready for me to purchase equipment for a position at home. (Data Enter/Admin. Assistant)

They tried to get me to deposit the check via mobile deposit but of course that did not work. I had researched this company and even called the SCDEW to verify that this was not a scam, but my gut told me otherwise. Therefore I went to the bank to verify that the scanned check being sent was a fake. IT WAS, no account existed, that is when I told them I would not continue any process and that they were a fake. When I sent the final text, the whole conversation on "Telegram" vanished. ("Your Busted") I never thought I would fall for a scam but after being out of work for a year, I was excited to finally possible land a new job. I have most of the emails and conversations but the last three hours of the last day completely disappeared.
