Scammer made a clone account of a “friend” on FB. Had a list of items for sale. I was unaware this was a duplicate profile of ****** *******. I inquired about a mixer for $150. They wanted me to hold with a deposit but I said no I would go to San Antonio for a cash pickup. When I was on the way, they said they just left and wouldn’t be back until ‘Monday. Later that night they wanted a deposit so I went on PayPal and made a $75 deposit payment. They were also trying to get me to deposit mush larger amounts for a Can Am $2200 and a Superquad $2000. As soon as I made the PayPal transaction, I got a confirmation with a different name. It was for a Marie Bazile. I messaged them who is that and they said their cousin. I asked for a screenshot of the receipt and they said they couldn’t do it from their phone. They did ask me what my email and account was for PayPal when they were looking for confirmation. I have them the account name and my name. I had already given them my number so they could call me when back in town. Red flags went up so I changed my PayPal password as well as removed any cards. I have tried to alert PayPal but they don’t have a good system for reporting fraud. I also alerted my bank.
