We went onto pits4families.com in search of a dog to adopt. We found one and began the process of adoption. They told us different things that would come with our dog and what we will have to do in order to get her. Once we paid the full amount for her, the next day, the puppy was shipped and the people had emailed us saying that they had a family emergency, and we haven't heard anything back since then, which was September 26 2020. We had received an email from someone claiming to be a airport, telling us that we needed to send $1050 through Western Union for a "Anti-covid electronic crate" for her to travel in. They told us that she would not be able to get shipped without it. After that is when the red flags started. They were very unprofessional, the sending address for Western Union was to colombia. Below is who and where they told us to send the money. The first one was  88***888 Bogota, Colombia 110111. The second one was *******. Pereira, Colombia 780001. We weren't able to speak on the phone wtih the person(s) claiming to be the airport all but one time. When we did finally get to speak with them, they coud barely speak english and we had had a difficult time understanding them, eventhough they claimed to bean employee at The Atlantic Ave. Airport in Austin, Texas in the pet department. We called the airline themselves and talked to two different employees, each saying that there were no puppies and weren't associated with shipping pets. We ended up doing some research of our own and found out that Pits4families.com was a con-artist website and the website directed us to report what had happened.

I used CashApp and sent the “breeder” $215.00 for a deposit on a puppy. While in transit ( I was told she will be driving from Portland Oregon) last minute they decided to fly the puppies which would require $400.00 for a rental on a crate which I sent in the form of American Express gift card. I never received the puppy. My daughter found out about the scam and now I am sharing my story.

this is actually a 2 part scam.

We were looking on line for mini pit bull puppies. I did a few searches and came across Pits4Families. I inquired through their website to see if they had any mini's. I had a pleasant email exchange and after a few messages they sent me pictures and a video of Kara. We understood that we could not come visit due to COVID-19 plus they lived several states away. They assured us that our pup would be driven by van from Indiana to Minnesota because they care so much for their pups. We paid via Cash App and things were set.

Day pup was supposed to leave I got an email from the breeder checking in to make sure we were all excited and to ensure us everything was set on their end. We were to receive the pup, the registration papers, the ownership papers, a crate, a "care book" and a sample of food. The courier called around 1:00 PM CST to tell me that they had been trying to reach me but since I had missed the window the pup would have to go via other travel arrangements. I was confused but did find an email from the courier - TransGlobal Express Delivery Service (or their website home page says Worldwide shipping Express) and replied. I got yet another call and series of emails and texts stating that because our pup had to fly and because she was under 18 weeks of age she had to have a special temp controlled crate - $885 to rent BUT the rental fee would be reimbursed upon delivery. At this point my gut was telling me to run- this didn't seem right. BUT I had faith that this was going to be ok- so again - I used Cash App and made payment for the rental. I should have known something was up when I got a warning from my bank. The name on the exchange reminded me of an episode of Ozark. Once that was done we got confirmation our pup was on her way.

Around 11:00 PM CST I got a series of texts and emails this time telling me that upon inspection in Scottsbluff, NE, it was found that our pup's registration papers were 2 weeks old and that there were no papers listing us as the owners. I took a screen shot of the conversation and sent it to the breeder. The breeder wrote back that they lost their husband that morning to COVID and they were in shock. I asked for confirmation that all paper work was completed and sent with the dog and the breeder assured me it was. The courier kept insisting that it was NOT complete and to get our pup delivered we need to buy some kind of pet insurance - either $1500, 1600 or 1700 policies....again we would receive most or all of it back upon delivery - depending on which plan we picked.

I was done. At this point I had started googling the courier company and the puppy site. There are no physical addresses listed on either site. No phone number on the puppy site. I looked up on the Better Business Bureau site and the puppy site was based in Utah - when I was told the dog was coming from Indiana. I told the courier I was not paying more money for insurance to get the dog. All the paper work was sent with the dog, we had no copies of our own. They kept persisting - telling us that they were going to quarantine the dog and get animal control involved. They sent us texts with what the penalty was for animal cruelty and animal endangerment and kept pressuring us to buy the insurance to get the dog. IF something like this was required it would have been brought up at the beginning. I found out that this is a scam that has been going on for a while (the puppy insurance part.)

Then today- I found the pits4families site is also a scam. I haven't heard anything from the breeder. When I asked where the courier was based out of (their physical address) or what name they go by- I got a series of rude texts telling me that this matter has been turned over to animal control and that we would pay for this.

What is their phone number? I am currently being scammed by them.

I attempted to purchase a puppy from Pits4Families.com. Through a series of emails that detailed the price, deposit, delivery method, date, etc. we agreed the price would be $720. I paid half down as a deposit via ******* on July 1, and was to pay the remainder upon delivery on July 8. On July 8 I was contcted by someone purportedly from a delivery company and they attempted to have me pay for an air-conditioned crate to transport the puppy via air. I initially received a call, then an email that was trying to get me to authorize $885 or $1360 for this air delivery and crate.

We had agreed, in writing via email, that the puppy would be driven to my home and the $720 was the total to be paid. The supposed breeder had stated that the puppy would be driveb from their location in Kansas City, MO to me in South Bend, IN. On the day of delivery, the change to air delivery was attempted, but I refused the additional fees.

Via a great deal of text messages (attempts by me to call were unsuccessful) the supposed breeder claimed her husband had died from COVID-19 the day before and that her son, who was to have been the driver, was now in quarantine for 14 days. This was the excuse for the air delivery. I continued to refuse to pay the air fees and told her that if she was in quarantine, we could set a new delivery date after the passage of the 14 days. She refused to do that and has refused a refund, which I have explained is the only other option.

At this point, I am out the deposit of $360, and I have no puppy. She has refused a refund and tells me to contact the shipping company, which I will not do as I have no contract with them.

The breeder gave me the name Kenny Johnson and family. The CashApp name I paid was Brandon Sneed. The delivery company identified themselves as follows in their emails: TRANSGLOBAL EXPRESS DRELIVERY SERVICE. INTERNATIONAL PETS CARGO AGENCY,

Registration No.VSCA10815BCN01IN.VAT No. WATX10815CA,

We were looking to get a puppy from this company we contacted via email after sharing our story of our dog we lost and history of animal care they stated that we basically were a perfect fit. We made a deposit for a dog and informed this Kenny Johnson we wanted to talk to him personally about delivery of puppy basically he refused to talk to me or my spouse in regards to the matter he even sent papers to have the animal transported to our home via email. We then did some investigation after we submitted to a [email protected] which automatically sent up red flags to us this email Belongs to a Deseray Burchfield out of Knoxville TN. she also has a boyfriend/spouse name Jay Watkins, we found out after looking on the internet for pet scams and complaints we confronted individuals via email with our proof and we have not hear back from them
