I was contacted through my email account on January 6th asking me to confirm my interest in the position. On January 21, 2023 I was sent a pretty legitimate looking questionnaire about video editing. On January 23, 2023, I received an email stating that I had been hired for the remote Video Editor position. The email stated that I would be receiving an email with the official offer for me to sign from their Human Resources director, Richard Markese. I was asked to provide my full name, home address and telephone number.
The offer seemed a bit high and the fact that the questionnaire had the letterhead for Salvona raised my suspicions so I checked my job hunting list and confirmed that I did apply to Pipette through LinkedIn. I assumed that Salvona was the parent company to Pipette. So, I did provide my home address and signed the job offer letter and returned that to them though email. However, my suspicions were further aroused when they asked for my banking information in order to send me a check to set up my "home office".
So, I contacted Pipette and Salvano directly yesterday and asked if this was a legitimate job offer. I received a voicemail back this afternoon from the human resources department at Salvano that this was indeed a scam.
I have not provided any banking information to them but I did provide my home address and signature.
Please advise me as to what other agencies I should contact to report this.
