Pilbara Minerals Imposter - Employment Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

- Temple Hills, MD, USA • Sep 13, 2023

I was looking for jobs on LinkedIn and I found a job posting for the position of Purchasing Officer (remote). https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/3715066377/ The company was Pilbara Lithium Minerals Limited. When I looked up Pilbara, I found that they were a legitimate company. However, I was mistaken. The real company is Pilbara Minerals, based in Australia. This fake company was Pilbara Lithium Minerals Limited. I did not notice this mistake at all during my application process. I applied via Easy apply on LinkedIn. I was then contacted by an Allison (Teresa) Peltzman to email my resume to a specific recruiter. I complied. I received an invitation to a phone call from the number I provided and spoke with a gentleman for about five minutes. He asked me standard interview questions, i.e. "What skills do I believe will be beneficial towards the position, What education have I received that will help". After the interview, he told me to expect an email soon if I was chosen for the next interview process. I received the email hours later to a link with instructions to fill out the prompts. ( https://shorturl.at/eiltD ) The form had what I felt were more standard interview question prompts. The only personal information that I gave was my address and phone number. A day later, I was emailed again with a job offer. The recruiter who emailed me sent me another link ( https://www.pilbaralithiums.com/payroll/ ) asking me to fill out the information needed in order to add me on payroll and to run a background check on me. I was excited so I showed my wife, who had skepticism. Asking about details for the position, she made me dig some more to find out about Pilbara Minerals. I looked at the job offer email again and decided to research the recruiters name, Michelle Forte. There were no results. This led me down the rabbit hole to discover that Pilbara Lithium Minerals Limited is a fake company. I attempted to call the number back, but was not answered. I looked up the address to discover it was a home address. I reached out to the recruiter to ask if they can contact me via phone call again, but have not received a reply. I also messaged Pilbara Minerals official Instagram account, inquiring about the job position and Michelle Forte.

The major difference I noticed about this company is that the fake companys website in Pilbaraminerals.com and the ACTUAL companys website is Pilbaraminerals.com.au. Further research shows that Pilbara Minerals has no United States address or place of business.
