My grandmother received a phone call and the number on the caller ID was her sister’s actual phone number. When she answered the phone the person on the other end pretended to be a collect call operator and stated that her credit card number was needed to continue the phone call. When my grandmother said ‘no’ the person on the other end hung up. This was especially alarming considering they were somehow able to call from a number in a completely different state that was recognizable to my grandmother.
