Listed a classic car for sale on kijiji.ca. Prospective buyer ('Dave') contacted me via text. Said he wanted to visit tomorrow, had no issue with the price, but wanted a report from Global Auto Reports before proceeding. I indicated I had the Ontario used vehicle kit, insurance appraisal, etc. but he "trusted" the GAR above all others (e.g. CarFax). When I did so, he promptly sent me materials from the GAR site, illustrating it's a superior set of reports compared to CarFax. It seemed fishy on several fronts, so I googled the scam and found news stories from Global News about it ... sent those to Dave and he said the news piece from Global News was a fake review, a scam. BTW, such car reports are for modern vehicles not completely restored vintage autos (e.g. ground up restorations where every part and component has been replaced, refurbished or restored. It's a 60+ year old car. )

I didn't bite. Blocked him and hope I find a legit buyer for my car. Anyways, it's worth letting Ontarians know the scam is alive and well here. And you should be censuring Global Auto Reports for employing bad business practices.
