Received a call from a person claiming to be from the Amazon fraud department. She asked if I had made a purchase of a MacBook Air and iPods from Amazon for $1499.00. She needed me to authorize it. I told her I had not made that purchase. She said that it was delivering to Albany, NY, which is not the state I live in. She did have my correct billing address. She said that she could see 2 Amazon accounts tied to my phone number. She stated that in order to 'catch the scammer' I needed to be transferred to the US Consumer Protection Agency for them to assist. This sounded like something that wouldn't really happen legitimately. Then she got even more ludicrous and told me that since we didn't know who the scammer was I couldn't trust anyone. I wasn't to let any family, friends, or coworkers know that I was trying to track down a scammer in case it was one of them and we didn't want to risk tipping them off. She told me to be very truthful to the Protection Agency and give them whatever information they asked for. By now I knew this was a scam. She told me to hold on while she transferred me and to be sure the call didn't drop. As soon as she hit transfer I hung up. She of course didn't call back.

Got a call on home phone. Stated it was Amazon, and that a phone, I think it was I-phone 13, was charged to my Amazon account. And to press 1, if I wanted to proceed, or press 2 to cancel! Funny thing is, I don't have an Amazon account! I recorded this call 5 times in 30 minutes!
