I was selling a scooter on Facebook Marketplace for $5.00. Petia contacted me that she wanted to purchase the scooter and pay me through Zelle. I gave her my name and email address to send me the payment through Zelle. The confirmation email ended up in my junk email and said that I had a pending payment of $5.00 but my account has been limited and not a business account so it can't be credited and that I needed to contact the buyer to send in an additional $500 to my Zelle account so it can be changed to a business account. I told Petia that I'm not going to do that and if she wanted the scooter that she needed to pay cash or Venmo and to not send me $500. She replied that she sent the $500 and to follow the instructions on the email. I did get another email from "Zelle" that said I needed to send the $500 back to Petia so I could get my $5.00...what?! I knew this was a scam and that I would be out $500 if I actually did this. She was very persistent that I send her $500 immediately and I was very persistent in telling her she was scamming me and that there is no way she would send an extra $500 to pay for an item that was only $5.00 and I wasn't going to send her $500! I told her that we're done with this and blocked her.
