I received an email from [email protected] telling me I was tapped for a data entry position with Periscope Data Analytics and asking me to do an interview on Google Hangouts. I had sent my resume to many platforms before so this sounded legit. I looked up the name Gina Doan & found her on LinkedIn working at Sisense, which is the new company name after Periscope Data Analytics merged with Sisense (the scammer obviously stole the identity of that person & used old company name to sound legit). I did the interview in writing & was offered a data entry job for US$ 35 per hour (& this rate for this job was the first thing that made me suspicious). I then received an email congratulating me & informing me that I will receive a check by mail to buy necessary software for the job & office equipment to set up my desk at home. This raised a red flag as I had heard about check scams before, but I decided to go along with it to report the scam eventually. I did receive a check for $4,950 issued by Direct Grading & Paving, LLC (it exists online as a road services company in Nevada. Another name steal I guess). The sender's address on the USPS envelope was William Bailey from California (it exists online as the name of a painter who died recently!) The envelope also had a flier about a Mountain Dew Car Decal arrangement with instructions. When I asked that person about the flier, they said it was sent by mistake as their agency handles many things. She (or he) told me to send the deposit slip as soon as I deposit the check & they will give me instructions to keep a portion as my first payment (!) & send the rest to a person who will be my trainer. I asked why didn't the company send the money to the trainer directly? Why thru me? They said "It's because of the trainers, so they will be delivering and installing everything for you and put you through and to create a rapport." It's an obvious scam. I wrote to Sisense warning them that someone is using the identity of Gina Doan in a scam, but I haven't received a reply yet. I also filed a complain at https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/ .
