One day I noticed that $40 had been taken out of my account. When i viewed the card activity I saw the $40 payment went to Periodicals with an 800 number. That seemed very strange. I called the 800 number 4 times and no one answered. I left a voice mail saying that they took $40 out of my account, and that i didn't know what the payment was for or who they were, and I asked them to call me back, and I left my name and phone number. Then I called the bank, and they said it looked like a scam. So I got a new card. Then the phone calls started. The first time they called it was a woman who said I owed $800 (I guess the company name is Periodicals). I asked her to explain how I owed that much and what it was for. She claimed that i had ordered several magazines (most of them I never heard of). Of course I told her there is some sort of mistake. I didn't order any magazines. I also asked her how I owed $800. That seems why to high for some magazines. She never explained how she came up with $800. She was extremely rude, aggressive, and argumentative. The second call was the same woman, and this time she said I owed $900. Again she was rude from the start. Every time i said I didn't order any magazines, she'd say, "Yes you did". She claimed they had a recorded call of me ordering these magazines. I have NOT ordered any magazines. I don't even read any magazines. The same lady called a few more times (she called from a different number every time), and was extremely rude, argumentative, and honestly just plain nasty. She wouldn't even listen to me say that there was a mistake, that i hadn't ordered anything. At one point I just flat out said that i wasn't going to pay $800 or $900, and she said in a very condescending way "Oh yes you will". She kept threatening to turn me into a collection agency. Let me add I have never received any magazines, and they wouldn't let me cancel this magazine service or whatever it is. So today, I get a phone call from a lady saying she was from a collection agency, and that i owed periodicals money. I tried to explain again that i never ordered any magazines. This lady from a "collection agency" said, "Yes you did. We have a recorded call where you ordered." I kept trying to say that i didn't, there's a mistake some how. She just kept interrupting me and telling me I wasn't listening. Then she just hung up on me. Honestly, she sounded like the same lady from "periodicals". I've never heard of a collection agency hang up on somebody with out telling them how much they owe and not even ask for a payment or payment plan. Also I have asked "periodicals" to send me a bill. Even if I did order some magazines, how do i owe $900? They already got $40 from me. They flat out refuse to send me a bill. They claim they don't have to send me a bill. I will not pay for something I haven't ordered and haven't even received. Not to mention, I can't afford it.
