Ryan was the representative with whom I initially spoke. I was very clear that I had a 10x15 storage unit almost completely full - at least 80% full - of stuff. I did tell him that there was stuff packed to the top in most of the unit. Ryan, with whom I spoke, asked me to list some specific items that were in there. I named off some of the items. He wrote those down. I clearly told him those were only a few of the items in the storage unit, and that the storage unit was mostly full. He assured us that was ok, he just needed a few specific items to put in to generate a quote. He gave me a quote of $2,863.79. This was within my budget. I did know that it was an estimate and that the actual space needed might be a little more or less. But I trusted that he was giving me an adequate quote for the amount of stuff I told him we had, in which case any overage should be reasonable.

I, sadly, did not know, at that time, how to calculate the cubic feet myself (I have since learned how simple that is, unfortunately too late). He provided the paperwork to sign. The list of items was on that paperwork. I again told him clearly, this is not all that is in there. I repeated again the size and fullness of our storage unit. He again assured me that it was fine, he just needed to list something. So we trusted him and signed it and we provided the deposit of $1,074.71.

About 2 days before the scheduled move we received a call from their "Quality Assurance" representative, Cathy. She called to confirm the items we had to move. My husband happened to be nearby so I put we both spoke to her on speaker phone so he could be in on any details we needed to know for the move. We both clearly told HER, just as I had told Ryan, that it was a 10x15 storage unit about most of the way full. She sounded a little confused and asked us if we had some of the specific items listed on the quote. We said, yes, we do have those items, but that is not all. We repeated again the size and contents of our storage unit - I would like to emphasize how often we reiterated to them exactly how much stuff we had. We told her that almost everything was packed in boxes and there were a few loose items. Even though she sounded confused, she did not say "hey, wait, there is a discrepancy between what you are telling me and what is listed here."

Nothing changed in our storage unit from the original phone call to when the movers arrived. However, on the day of the scheduled move, Friday 10/9/2020, when about 1/3 of my things were already in the truck, only THEN did the movers tell me that the size amount provided in the quote was inadequate for the size and contents of my storage, and that the real size was almost THREE TIMES the amount of cubic feet!

I spoke with Angela Prime, Manager, who provided a new quote of between $5000-$6000!! If they had provided me that quote in the first place, I would never have contracted their services. I would never have given them the deposit.

Angela stated that the quote provided to me was ONLY for the items listed, which is contrary to what Ryan assured us. Again, I had repeated many times the amount of items we had, both to Ryan and to Cathy. Had they provided the REAL quote, based on what I ACTUALLY TOLD them, I would never have accepted their services, knowing that it was way out of my budget. They only got my deposit because they lied to me in the first place.

The only 2 options they gave me were to only move that amount of stuff for the original price of $2,863.79, or to pay another $2000-$3000 more! Neither of those options are in my budget. My TOTAL budget for moving was only about $3000.

I had to cancel their service and move all of my things back into the storage unit. Now I have to find another way to get my things moved.

They refuse to return my deposit, stating that the quote was only for the items listed. However, their representative mislead me regarding this, assuring me that he just needed some items to create the quote and assuring me that it was fine that there were many more items in my storage unit.

This deposit was obtained under false pretenses. This was a bait and switch and put me in a very bad way.

I would like to add that the movers they contracted to pick up our stuff were shocked at the quote that the representative had given us. They agreed that they would have described the contents of my storage unit as a 10x15 almost all the way full, with stuff packed to the top for a portion of it, and that this should have generated a quote of more like 1100-1500 cubic feet. They were not surprised when I cancelled the services and had everything put back. They were shaking their heads and apologizing to me and said that they have seen this happen many times. They were also completely shocked at the "revised quote" amount that Angela gave me of $2000-$3000 more than the original quote. Their mouths dropped open.
