a virus warning appeared stating my tablet was infected and to call this number 1-844-811-8888

Was apprehensive at first but they seemed legitimate. once the declared my problem was solved their wanting to charge me $249,

I was surfing the Internet when a pop up window said my computer was at serious risk. It gave me a number to call but I didn't write the number down. The person I called said he was from Peler Tech LLC in Vancouver, Canada. I gave him remote access to my computer and he "worked" on it a while and said he couldn't fix it. He said to go to Anydesk.com and see if they could fix it. The names of the two men I spoke with are James Smith and Vincent Stone. He said it would be $180 to fix it and an additional $140 for a lifetime tech service. He told me I couldn't pay by credit or debit card; I had to give him my next check number. He already had the bank routing number. At that point I hung up. I called my bank first, and then I called the BBB.
