We received a bill through the mail for long distance calls my wife and myself did not make. For example, Peak Communications charged us for long distance calls made to Kaysville, Utah, and Provo, Utah which we did not make. We did not know the person who answered the phone in Kaysville. We did know the person who answered the phone number corresponding to the supposed Provo call. He is a close friend, but he claims we did not call him in Provo; he is home bound and cannot travel to Provo. Our phone does not allow long distance calls. Any long distance call is immediately forwarded to Quest phone company. We never make long distance calls using that phone (landline?) Peak Communications said we used to make those calls.. We use our cell phones for long distance calls, not our landline. The bill sent to us by Peak Communications included forms to fill out for long distance calls to automatically be paid for by our bank. It sounds like a scam where Peak Communications could continue to bill us for phone calls we did not make. On top of that, they would have had our personal information which the bank has; so they could theoretically sell that information to other scam artists. Incidentally, they did not tell us what the other long distance calls were or what constituted the total bill I talked to Peak Communications on the phone, and they cancelled the costs of the supposed Kaysville and Provo calls and hope they cancelled the total bill because we never used Peak Communications for any long distance call.

Just got a call from a company calling themselves "Peak Communications" (although caller ID said something very different, see attached pic), claiming that they were affiliated with Frontier (my provider) and they were taking over my long distance and going to save me money. Several red flags flew, but I nearly fell for it anyway as they sounded very official and had quite a bit of information about me. I called Frontier, and they have no information for or affiliation with Peak Communications, and stated that they administer all my services themselves. I don't know if they're targeting customers of other providers, or just Frontier. The thing that almost got me was that they made it sound like a done deal, they weren't asking for permission, rather they were telling me they were doing it, so I was questioning whether I missed a notification about it from Frontier or something. They're very good talkers. Don't fall for this scam!

A lady named Suzanne called me and told me she was calling from Peak Communication, that they were the new contracted long distance provider for Century Link. She said they were going to be dropping my rate $10 from my current rate as long as I was under the age of 85, and I just needed to verify my information on a recorded line with the confirmation department. I was give "rep ID's" for both people and told I could only answer yes or no to the questions. I told them that this was just to scammy sounding and that I would contact Century Link directly to see if they needed me to consent to anything. I contacted Century Link and the representative there said they are not affiliated with any company called Peak Communications.

A "customer service rep." identifying herself as Shaquaia Jackson (ID#32340) calling from 630-851-7325 explained that my phone company was contracting with a new long distance provider - Peak Communications - to save me $15 a month. It sounded legitimate, so I followed through. Just to confirm the story, I called my phone company later on and found that there was no agreement between the companies (they had never heard of it). I was able to cancel the switch. I believe they were hoping to bait me into paying a small monthly fee but at the same time charge a hefty per-minute fee, although she denied this repeatedly.

There is a Peak Communications firm in Orange, CA, but since the call came from a suburb of Chicago it's hard to say whether it's the same firm. At any rate, the company in California should be aware that its name is being tarnished.
