On Monday August 29, 2016 I was contacted via email by someone stating themselves as Steven Posner. This person stated that they'd reviewed my application on ZipRecruiter.com, the job board site; I was asked to download google hangouts to complete an online interview with the company's head of operations, Angela Murphy. I checked ZipRecruiter and found no record of having applied to any position with this company. After contacting Ms. Murphy via google hangouts and requesting a job description, she sent an email stating I would be working from home, doing customer service and data entry with their clients. The email explained that there was a week of paid training ($19/hour) and upon orientation and employment, I would be compensated at $31/ hour. The email also stated that a physical location would be opening soon and that the equipment and software necessary to work from home would be paid for by the company. Being skeptical, I asked Ms. Murphy were the physical location would be; I was told that that could not be disclosed for security reasons. Ms. Murphy then asked a series of interview questions; I answered as vaguely as possible in the chance that this was an attempt to gather personal information. After a few minutes of waiting I was told that I was hired and that a check would be mailed to me through FedEx in order to purchase the necessary equipment ("Apple Laptop/Notebook for mobility and some... Other softwares for accuracy, Speed of data processing, Time Monitoring and Effectiveness,(4 in one Zebra ZM 400vvBarcode Printer and Cards,Fax Machine,Scanner,Photocopier Machine, 4Drawer Cabinet and Office Desk"). The following morning I received another google Hangouts message from Ms. Murphy stating that the check had been mailed and that once I received it, I should deposit it into my bank account, then email her a scanned copy of the deposit info, with my personal information erased. I asked if it was acceptable to cash the check and purchase the materials, then send a receipt as proof of purchase. Ms. Murphy attempted to convince me that this was not accepted, stating that some of the materials were custom built and would be engraved with my name; I asked why the company would not just then send me the materials and equipment rather than sending a check, to which she replied "Do you want this job?" I replied that I needed clarification to which she responded "The company have vendor will provide all of that to you

Usually, we purchase all the materials for our workers, do to misunderstanding between the vendor and employee.

We decided to issue them with a check to purchase it directly from the vendor." I asked for the information for the vendor so that I may contact them. Ms. Murphy replied "When you have made the deposit, i will give you the information concerning the vendor.

Is that clear?

If you do not want this job, let me know okay." At this point I informed her that I had contacted the ScamPulse.com and ended contact.
