Received a phone call from Publishers Clearing House stating I won $5 million and a new Mercedes Benz and it will be delivered to my apartment.

- Monument, CO, USA • Jan 23, 2024

Received a call on my cell with ‘caller ID unavailable’. Robert claimed I had won the Publisher’s Clearing House grand prize of $2.5M and a white 2023 Mercedes sedan. After a brief conversation I hung up thinking it was a scam. A few minutes later he called me back and said I’d cut him off. I apologized and said I was in the mountains and service was poor at times.

They said they tried to deliver it last week. Sent me notices in the mail and perhaps a note on my door. Neither of these occurred. He gave me his supervisor’s phone number and name so I could straighten out the delivery of my package.

I called Andrew Goldberg at 725-696-4466, who was very apologetic that my package was not delivered last week. (His sentence logic was somewhat off and an uneven gate, though he attempted to be very polite. His caller ID was Las Vegas.) I explained we had a major blizzard last week and that might be the reason “David” was unable to deliver my package. He would investigate and get back to me with a new delivery date. During this time I did a reverse phone number lookup and it took me to a page that looked like PCH! Hmmm.

Robert and I have had several conversations so far. He has not asked for any personal information yet or any money. Currently he said he is working with the Colorado Secretary of State’s office to coordinate delivery of my package. Said they do that by fax and he is waiting for a response. I asked who he is working with in the Sec of State’s office and he said Gina (who is our Colorado Sec of State). When original package deliveries get delayed they have to go back through the whole process again.

I have not played the PCH sweepstakes game for 40 years! That didn’t seem to bother him. Somewhere along this journey they said local businesses provided nominees for the awards. Hmm! I checked the PCH website and they awarded the grand prize for 2023 to a couple in Alabama on 6 January 2024.

Be careful out there!
