I was supposed to print off and sign a document to email back to my bank. My printer refused to scan the item back to my laptop. So I called the store where I bought the computer and the lady said I can't help you, you have to call HP. I said do have a number for HP? And she said yes and gave me a number. I called it and this lady said she could help me by going onto my computer. She said your computer will tell me what has been going on. Then she said you have many viruses and cookies and you have been warned 147 times. I said I don't remember being warned. So she showed me on my computer how many times it happened. She said I can have someone get on your computer and fix it. For one year it will cost $199, for 2 years it would be $299 and a permanent fix would be $399. I checked with my husband and he said why are you asking me? So she said an electronic check would be safer than a credit card so I wrote void on a check and sent it to her. The total cost with other fees was $498.98. That was on a Friday. On Monday I went to our bank and tried to close the account and set up a new one. However I had to leave the account open for 30 days because our social security checks went into that account. I had told the bank to do a stop pay on that check and they didn't do it. So the check was paid. They have made it right with us but now that company has that amount of money they should not have gotten. We have taken the laptop into the store and they have taken care of the viruses.
