- Columbus, OH, USA

last week, I was working on my laptop computer and got a pop up warning that my computer was infected and to call a number. I called and spoke to Steve Anderson, with an Indian accent, w/Paypal Geek Saints. They told me my computer had a virus,it's infected. They asked me to give them remote control of the computer. I did. Then he showed me garbled pieces of sites I had visited. He promised me for $1372 he would clean up my computer, he further promised that I would never go to an unsecure site, for the life of the computer everything would be ok. He asked for my bank account information, but I declined. Then he said that I shouldn't have to worry about pop ups or viruses, everything would be taken care fo for me. He identified himself as my technician. He gave me a security password that I am only supposed to use when I am connecting with him. He gave me the following phone numbers to call if I have an issue: 800-259-5890 and 844-239-7739. Then he sent me a contract through Docusign. Then I gave him my Mastercard credit card number. I've already been charged for it. So I thought i would be safe. He said it was very serious, and they will notify the FBI that this isn't me, and I should be receiving information from the FBI. He transferred me to Glain Rogers. He assured me everything was fine. He said all of the bad stuff and viruses were going to be taken off and everything will be fine. Today, I got a call from Andy Smith, also w/an Indian accent. He said "A serious problem had been found with my computer, my identity, including social security number are connected to several hundred porn sites, and my information is being used to hack into other people's accounts. He said that he was going to refund the $1300 that was charged to my credit card because my information was out there. He went through my computer again, and showed me people in Atlanta and asked if I know them. I said I don't know anybody except people in Ohio. He said these people have your information. Then he told me to go to Walmart and purchase Walmart cards. He offered me a senior discount. He stayed on the phone with me while I was there. When I got to Walmart in Whitehall, OH he said I can't stay on the phone with you and guide you, just tell the clerk you are buying them for personal use. My phone was on during the transaction. I purchased (4) at $500 and (1) for $200. I told the clerk I was buying them for personal use. I went to the car, and drove home. Then I gave him the security numbers off the cards. He said scratch the numbers off the back, I said there aren't any numbers to scratch off. He said this isn't what I want, I want Walmart gift cards. I drove back to Walmart in Whitehall. He stayed on the phone. I told him I could not purchase the gift cards. So he told me to buy Google Play cards. I began a conversation w/a Walmart associate, who advised me to call BBB. I told him they don't have what you want. He said go to Target. I said you are stressing me out, scaring me, I'm done. He's blowing up my phone with calls from 208-274-8206.
