Unauthorized transactions to PayPal Credit account which was opened without authorization or knowledge. Credit account is linked to legitimate account that was opened in 2020. Victim is a senior citizen who has paid $517 of fraudulent charges after speaking to representative of PayPal at a customer service number which she found on the internet (which may have been a scam artist posing as PayPal). Fraudulent charges detected in August 2023. Password for legit PayPal account changed on 10/3. Subsequent fraudulent charge attempted on 10/3 after password changed.

PayPal contends:

- PayPal Credit account cannot be closed until balance is paid in full

- Unauthorized transactions cannot be blocked or reversed because they’re “consistent with transaction history”

Victim wants:

- to know all PayPal accounts opened under her email address ([email protected]).

- to dispute and close the PayPal credit account that was opened without her knowledge/consent

- prevent all future transactions to that fraudulent account

- to dispute the prior fraudulent transactions and refund the amounts back to the victim
