2) checked my account, saw the charge and called the number
3) Mr. Brown answered, identified himself as PayPal representative, told me he would refund $500, asked permission to access my bank account, the left side of my computer screen was my bank account, the right side looked like a coding screen, he said enter $500 carefully but apparently I entered $5,000 at which time Mr. Brown stated I couldn’t back the extra zero off. He said now I owe him $4,500 because he just transferred $5,000 to me, but not to check my balance yet. He stated the only way to pay him back and retain the $500 was to purchase gift cards.
4) Having trusted PayPal for years I didn’t stop and think about what was happening
5) I became confused about how much to pay Mr. Brown, but finally realized I was being scammed and ended the conversation with Mr. Brown who kept saying I would get my money back.
6) I didn’t, and lost the money in my bank account and maxed out my credit cards.
7) I reported to police, given a case number and forgotten
