Type of a scam Rental
I was contacted by a man named "Patryk Garlinski" and my phone number was included in my email signature so naturally Patryk starts texting me about the rental unit but from a New York area code.
Meanwhile, he's claiming he's working in Wyoming and can't make it back for a showing but is asking me fill out an application and pay a rental fee. He said if I wanted to look at the place I could drive by it at 11 S Green St to see if I liked the general area.
So I looked up this building and found the exact photos provided on the listing, which seem to come from 2 different units, on the website for the apartment complex.
This person is a foreign scammer who has my personal information from corresponding about a similar rental advertisement, and unfortunately has been attempting to use my identity to commit acts of fraud.
I have updated my social media account to warn others that this is going on, and to advise others to never agree to rent from an individual sight unseen and without meeting them in person to confirm their identity.
If in doubt, back out.
