We received a notice by standard postal service of a Pending Trademark Cancellation for a trademark obtained a year earlier. The notice warned of pending trademark cancellation and requested a renewal fee of $970 + an additional $400 for other service. The letter uses every conceivable misleading tactic to pose as an official government agency and lied about the pending trademark cancellation. trademarks do not expire or require a renewal fee on a yearly basis. The name of the company and website closely resemble the actual government agency and this solicitation is not clearly identified as a private offer or service.
