The victim was texted by what we now know as a scam wherein the scammer asked the victim if he wanted to partake in an auto wrap (MARS advertising) campaign in which the scammer would send a check (in this case in the amount of $2,950.00) which was to be deposited and part of the check would be his salary/pay and balance would go to the the technician/installer who would come to install the advertising wrap on the vehicle. Once the check was deposited and funds available, the victim was to text to the number 903-265-4525 and send them a confirmation of deposit (deposit slip) to 903-265-4525. A letter and check was received by the scammer (see attached). Company names on the return address label as well as check seems legit in that they are actual companies being impersonated, but not related to the scam. Obviously a fraudulent check. Lot's of red flags to those who are aware of these scams, but not to the innocent and naive! I have removed the victims name and address from the attached document, Check has NOT been deposited and has been shredded! However, the scammers do have the victims name and address and cell number only.
