I was contacted by a staffing agency for a job opportunity. They called me by phone and said they could put my resume in front of a hiring manager for Samsung for $145,000 a year and that I could possibly land the job. This sounded like a great opportunity as it was double the salary of any other jobs I was applying to. They emailed me a job description which matched my background. The only requirement I didn't meet was for a scrum certification. They said they would call me back in an hour if the hiring manager was interested in my resume. An hour later they called back and said the hiring manager is interested, but in order to get an interview I would need to sign up for a $450 course for a 'scrum certification'. The recruiter emailed me a link to a scrum certification. I asked him if I could do another company's certification. He said no you need to do it through the link in the email he sent me. He would not schedule me for an interview until I sent him the registration code and paid for the certification. I couldn't apply for the position unless I bought the product he sent me a link to? This had scam written all over it. I'm certain I would have paid $450 which was non refundable and then conveniently I would have not got the job.
