Type of a scam Phishing
She told *** that the company would send her an "Ad Box" in which needed to be connected to our WiFi router, and that *** would make anywhere from $15 to $350+ per month for simply having this box connected. I (***) searched the internet looking for more information about this company and these Ad Boxes and only found the website I have shared, as well as an article describing one of these Ad Boxes with malicious intentions. I believe that this company may possibly be using this technology in an unethical or possibly unlawful way due to the lack of information I have been unable to get directly from the person who contacted my girlfriend.
The website I shared in the "Scammer Website" section mentions wanting to use people's un-used business features claiming that most people never use this feature anyway. My girlfriend was also asked to provide 3 screenshots of a google account that was at least 1 year old, wanting screenshots of an old email from 2017, a screenshot of the security section of the google account settings, and a screenshot of the results of an internet speed test that is performed on the user's network.
All of this just seems shady to me, which is why I am reporting this incident and company.
I have noticed a lot of people in my area requesting more information and signing up for this on Facebook, and would like for this "Painted Dreams" company to be investigated if necessary as to prevent possible unethical data mining and/or privacy issues.
I would also like to apologize if it is found that this indeed a lawful company, I am simply concerned about the possible intentions of these Ad Boxes and the data that is being used by this company.
