I ordered a taxi at the taxi stand at *** *** ***. When I got in the taxi, he claimed his meter wasn't working and asked if I would be willing to pay the flat rate. I agreed, even though the "flat rate" of $55 was significantly higher than it should have been. I asked if I could pay by credit card, and he said that was fine. When we arrived at the destination, he took my credit card and scanned it using the *** app on his smart phone rather than the credit card machine in his taxi. He did not give me a chance to see what he had entered or ask me to sign. I asked for a receipt and he gave me a blank receipt. I asked him for a valid receipt, and he eventually filled out the receipt below, claiming he charged me $55. However, when I looked at my account statement, he charged me $90, and I was able to track down a copy of the receipt from ***. He forged a signature (not mine).
