Type of a scam Online Purchase

These giveaway posts occur every couple of weeks and are then taken down. They gather user contacts and then reach out to say they've won something. In my case, it was a "Surf Mystery Box" that would be worth $85. I was asked to pay for shipping which I stupidly did.
According to Reddit, this has been going on for years. https://www.reddit.com/r/surfing/comments/n5nlp3/im_not_a_part_of_this_group_but...⇄ It seems that they change websites occasionally. And they also post about fake accounts on their Instagram page to deflect the fact that they are the fake. I also started reaching out to other Instagram users that commented on their recent giveaway to warn them. I have now connected with others who also fell for the scam.
I also saw others comment on the giveaway post about being scammed too.
I have reported them to Instgaram.
