I have had 2 patient who have been contacted by this company called Orthocare and they continue to fax me orders for durable medical equipment that the patients do not need. Apparently they are calling patients at home telling them that their physician has has ordered these things and Medicare pays for the equipment. I will then get a fax to order the equipment, but to get DME paid for by Medicare an office visit must be done and the actual DME must be needed. In some instances they are sending the equipment to the patients before an order is actually done. I wonder who is actually going to pay for that, seems like Medicare fraud to me.
