Similar to the other reports, an executive recruiter contacted me to see if I would be interested in exploring executive level opportunities. However, after introducing me to the team leader for the recruitment project for the group, he experienced trouble uploading my resume to their candidate management system. From there, I have received several messages asking me to get my resume ATS optimized from Resume-Experts.net and once that is done we can schedule a call.

The Exec Recruiting Group has a professional looking website, but no Linked In presence.

I got an email recently from a "recruiter" asking me for a copy of my resume. I sent a PDF of my resume, and a few days later got this, from another person with the same alleged company:

We are having an issue with your resume. We can open the file without any issues but the problem is with the way information in your resume is structured and formatting used which is resulting in a lot of missing information in experience fields when your resume is parsed by the candidate management systems. Please check your resume and try fixing the issue so we can load your resume in our candidate tracking system.

I converted the file type and tried both Word and PDF but still having the same issue. I asked my colleague and apparently, it is a common issue. He instructed me to ask you to check your resume through https://optimisedresumes.com/ and see if you can identify and fix the problem.

We have a call scheduled with the client on Thursday and I will try to make a brief introduction. I am available for a call anytime on Friday. I was contacted by a false recruiter from absolute recruiters (I filed a separate claim about them) and was told the resume I sent them for an employer seeking to fill a job was formatted incorrectly. I was told to use “optimised resumes” to re-format my resume and upon a google search I realized it was a fraud and scam- from both parties.

After being contacted by a recruiter, I received this email from his colleague, directing me to optimise my resume for $5. I know my resume is professionally written and strucrtured and I wrote back that if they have a serious client they should just send my resume, as is. I am engaging in a serious career search right now, for the good of myself and my family. It's sick that people would try tactics like this to exploit my hopes and scam me out of money:

I then paid $5 for a resume review through Optimised Resumes, and received this email, from [email protected]

Hello [name],

Thank you for sending me your resume. I have tested your resume on various ATS Systems and none of them were able to parse your experience correctly. For example, Taleo which is one of the most commonly used ATS is mixing the dates and missing some of the job descriptions. Similar issues on other resumes too. Your contact information is all correctly parsed by every system I tested so that is good.

It looks like you are making extensive use of text formatting which can cause issues with the majority of the applicant tracking software. Some of your text formattings are converted into non-ASCII text and often results in errors related to "Required Fields/Missing Information" when uploading into software or causes the software to skip many of the important fields. I do not think the use of formatting you have will cause any outright rejections by software but some of the smaller applicant tracking software providers may not accept your resume at all.

On the flip side, the look and feel of your resume is attractive enough to win recruiters. It is good enough even for someone at your level who is competing with candidates who have spent thousands perfecting their resumes. Your resume is well written and I do not think you need the services of a professional resume writer to showcase your experience but I highly recommend you consider investing a small amount in ATS Optimizing your current resume or one of our designed versions. Like I said your design is good enough where you do not need to spend extra on a new design if you do not want to and just ATS Optimizing your resume should do the job for you.
